MDPI Kraków Marks Five Years of Academic Support and Team Development

This month is a meaningful one for MDPI Poland, as the Kraków office celebrates its fifth anniversary. The decision to establish the office in 2020 stemmed from recognising the strength of Poland’s academic community and the energy of its research environment. Since then, the Kraków team has become an important part of MDPI’s global story
Five years later, the office has grown into a team of 150 people, reflecting the steady development of MDPI’s work in Poland and our growing connection with the global academic community.
This year, the Kraków team has
Organised 19 Academic Publishing Workshops.
Held 1,416 online and 91 in-person meetings with scholars, including eight Editorial Board Meetings for journals such as Medicina, Materials, Sustainability, Polymers, and IJMS.
Represented MDPI at 27 conferences in Poland and abroad.
In 2025, the Kraków office has also continued its tradition of team events, with colleagues participating in a wide range of activities, including
Ceramics, cooking, and chocolate-making workshops.
Team dinners across Kraków’s diverse culinary spots.
Quizzes and riddle challenges.
Shooting range activities.
Arcade and retro gaming.
Go karting.
Healthy spine days.
Large company-wide gatherings, such as the New Year Party and Annual Teambuilding.
These activities have become a regular part of office life and help bring people together outside of their everyday responsibilities. Over time, this has shaped a work environment where teams get to know each other better and build the kind of cooperation that carries over into daily work.
Looking ahead, the team will continue to focus on supporting researchers and developing the workplace culture that has grown over the past five years, further shaping the office into a place that supports effective work, encourages collaboration across teams, and maintains the sense of community that has been present in Kraków from the very beginning.
